what is Search Engine Optimization?

Search Engine Optimization is the process of maximizing the number of visitors to a particular website by ensuring that the site appears high on the list of results returned by a search engine.

SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, video search, academic search, news search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.

Search Engine Optimization Techniques.

Search engine optimization is the process of affecting the online visibility of a website or a web page in a web search engine's unpaid results. By using the below techniques we can increase search results of our websites and it will lead to increase the cost-effectiveness, usability, brand awareness, etc.

1. Use relevant keywords.

SEO keywords are the words and phrases in your web content that make it possible for people to find your site via search engines.
To increase search engine optimization we should identify relevant keywords. We can use google keyword planner to choose an appropriate keyword.


After we found a relevant keyword we have to manage that keyword within the website properly.
we can use the keyword as much as possible to increase SEO.


2. Include keywords in the website name.

as an example, if you are doing a website for a shoe outlet you should include relevant keywords like "shoe" in your website name to increase  SEO.

Also, you can include location information as your keyword and include that information in your website name. (eg: Colombo shoe world).



 3. The content of the website should be unique, valuable Grammatically correct and appropriate for the target audience.


According to our example, the content of the Colombo shoe world website is unique. As well as it has a grammatically correct keyword rich content.


4. Use appropriate URL format.


To create an appropriate URL  we have to include primary keyword in the URL. Also, it should be brief, descriptive and relevant. Use hyphens instead of an underscore in the URL and use static URL rather than dynamic. Dynamic URL is a URL that results from the search of a database-driven Web site or the URL of a Web site that runs a script. In contrast to static URLs, in which the contents of the Web page do not change unless the changes are coded into the HTML, dynamic URLs are generated from specific queries to a site's database.



5.Place links on other sites 

You can put backlinks to popular websites among users. when you are putting links to other sites build healthy backlinks to the trusted websites and monitor those links.


6. Use ALT tags for images.

when you are using images in the content, you can use ALT tags. when user search for a certain keyword, if there are keywords in ALT tags, those keywords are also concerned.



7. Use meta-description to present to brand better.

A meta description tag is a snippet of HTML code in a web page header that summarizes the content that is on the web page. The meta description is usually placed after the title tag and before the meta keywords tag.
